About LJ Montgomery
The creative journey of the artist LJ Montgomery began in 1998 with instrumental compositions created using a Casio MIDI keyboard and a WaveBlaster card. Initial recordings were shared on Irene Jackson’s songwriting message board before his work moved to musings .sigom .om. His early collaborations were shared on SoundClick followed by later recordings on ReverbNation and SoundCloud.
The second chapter began in December of 2007 with the official launch of montgomedia dot com, which operated as a business combining web design and custom music publishing. Over time, as low-cost hosting services including website builders emerged, the business shifted entirely to showcasing his creative portfolio, with his instrumental music becoming readily licensable for various projects.
His discography includes full-length releases Ahead of the Storm (2001), Jellyfish Waltz (2003), Train Chasing (2004), Improbability Drive (2005), Blue By You (2006), 23 Tracks (2008), Six O’Clock, Friday (2009), The Discovery (2009), Standing by the Side of the Road (2011), Rocks In The Water (2013), Pandemedia (2021), Making Tracks (2024), and Catching Up (2025). While releases like 23 Tracks and Six O’Clock, Friday were shared on CD Baby, the rest of his discography was distributed privately and directly on the site. Today, his recent work is available on a pay what you want basis on Bandcamp, and his music videos are centralized on YouTube

These original musical compositions include custom generated accompaniment tracks that were programmed using a collection of digital tools. Consequently, most of them can be modified to change tempo, instrumentation, key, etc. Most can be shortened to be used as “bumpers” between segments of podcast and the like or as atmospheric backgrounds for the opening and closing credits of audiobooks.
